NY Lottery Results

"You've got to be in it to win it." That's New York State's lottery slogan. Unfortunately, many people aren't really in it when they buy a ticket. They buy it on a whim when the prize looks inviting, and then they never check back to see if they've won.

Many people, with the exception of expert lottery players, buy tickets praying for a payout. However, they have no real system for keeping up with things. Life intervenes when they get home, kids are screaming, the spouse needs dinner, they have to work late, and the ticket goes on the back burner. The back burner turns into the forgotten ticket and an unclaimed prize sitting in the junk drawer or in a pants pocket is now their new reality.

The current statistics of Ny lottery winners who have failed to claim their prizes to date in 2007 is in the millions. Winners missed a total 4.84 million in prizes that expired between April 1 and May 31st of 2007, and that statistic is just for prizes that were more than $10,000 each. This fact is according to John Charleson, a New York lottery spokesman. Tracking is less available for smaller prizes, but if this is any indicator, then lottery money is being reabsorbed into the Ny state coffers at record levels, due to unchecked ny lottery results.

In Westchester alone there have been 11 unclaimed prizes of more than $10,000 from various lotto games, Rockland has two unclaimed prizes so far this year, and Putnam has two. All these tickets were bought in the last year were and Lower Hudson Valley has the largest unclaimed prize about to expire in the amount of $250,000. The lottery ticket was sold in Mount Kisco, and if the winner knows about it, how long do you think it would take for them to get to the prize claims office.

Unfortunately, people think their odds of wining are low. The odds of winning the Mega Millions Jackpot are 1 in 175,711,536, and the odds of winning the $250,000 second prize are 1 in 3,904,701. As a result, they give their ticket low priority on keeping up with and checking to see if they've won.

What is saddening about these statistics is that people put down their hard earned cash for a chance at a dream, and then through bad memory and bad luck, they win and never realize it.

In New York winners are given 12 months to claim their prizes; after that, the money goes back to the Ny Lottery to create new games. For some, like the unlucky winner who bought a Mega Millions jackpot ticket worth $31 million at Astoria Smokeshop & Convenience in Queens on Aug. 1, 2006, their ticket is now worthless. Can you imagine that poor person when they realize they had $31 million dollars at their disposal for 12 months and never acted to receive it.

Connecticut has a story that is food for thought about the perils of being late turning in your ticket. It concerns this poor guy named Clarence Jackson Jr. He won a jackpot in the amount of $5.8 million dollars in 1996 and turned it in three days late. He spent subsequent years trying to lobby the state legislature to make an exception in his case so that he could get his prize. To date he has never received a penny. That means that all those tickets unclaimed in Westchester, Rockland and Lower Hudson have people facing a similar fate. The above statistics only cover a two month period. While it might not be $5.8 million, money won is still somebody's money.

List Building and Other Marketing Tools to Grow Your Business

List building is the first and most important step in internet marketing. Everybody says the money is in the list. List building is the first, most important and most constant of all the tasks that Internet marketers engage in. Their lists are their "bread and butter" and their lists and their businesses belong together.

It is one of the most essential components of your online marketing strategy. Before obtaining sales from your clients, you should acquire their email addresses for your email list, because generally you will need to advertise your products and services to your target prospects before they decide to buy them.

Using this strategy is all about opt-in conversion rates and the value of each subscriber over the life of the relationship. This is where valuable content comes into play? Consider it a vital part of marketing online as most Internet Marketers know. Fewer marketers are aware of building their lists with giveaways and joint ventures, though they are beginning to catch on. List building is not brain science. Anyone can do it, but will anyone do it?

List building is used to collect information from visitors so that future contact can be made. In some cases the individual or business may want to send a newsletter or some other follow up type correspondence.

You will see that it is largely about building relationships. What better way to start than to give them something of value? List building isn't important... it is absolutely vital... it really is your bread and butter. Without a list, you are simply without a business.

Email list building is like this in that you must continually be monitoring your results and take alternative actions to create different results. The same goes for email list building. Emails that your subscribers find relevant and timely will keep them on your list and keep them interested. Consistency is the key to long-term subscribers and customer loyalty. Email list building takes time. It's my hope that each time I enter a giveaway a few more people will sign up, building my list slowly with highly targeted subscribers.

Email marketers can choose to give subscribers the option to share their message with friends on popular social media networks, including: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Digg, and MySpace. Email marketing is one of the cheapest methods of advertising, and it allows you to build relationships with your subscribers over time. But if you don?t have a good subscriber list, you'll never reap the full benefits of email marketing.

Viral list building is actually quite a simple strategy. You need your own product or service with lots of people using it - and a way to force every one of these people to subscribe to your newsletter. Viral list building is a tough concept, and one which I do not employ that much. I build solid lists of people who are sincerely interested in my offerings, and I think that there is a viral element to that.

Opt in list building will always be vital to growing a business online and list building software that facilitates the co registration lead gathering process will be in demand for lucrative list building. Opt-in list building is one of the most important steps you can take in growing your business.

Sending out weekly flyers and monthly newsletters gives an excellent purpose to a list that will keep people looking forward to it. If you neglect your list and send things maybe once every 6 months, you may find your list decreasing in size at an insane rate. Sending campaigns based on specific subscriber preferences will build stronger and long lasting relationships with your customers.

Send an open-ended survey to your subscribers who have not opened and/or clicked a link within an email in the past six months, asking for feedback as to what content they would like to see in future emails. Make sure the subject line (e.g., "Help Improve Our Newsletter") makes it clear this is not just another typical email communication to these subscribers; this will help produce greater feedback.

Imagine if at any time you needed or better yet, simply wanted something, all you had to do was send out an email. I know that sounds crazy but it really is true. Imagine that - you don't need to put out any of your own money yet you will have a product that is among the easiest and most sought after products to sell on the internet. And once you learn how to create this product, you can create more and more. Imagine promoting an affiliate product. The user clicks your link, and then navigates away.

Article marketing is another very effective way to promote yourself and build your lists. Write your own content or outsource it. Article marketing is one of the best ways to gain traffic for free. Using your expertise in the niche market, you can attract the kind of readership that would be interested in the product or service that you are marketing.

An article submission service can also be used as one of the effective list building tools. Using this tool there is a possibility to create a huge list with necessary back links and opt-ins.Also articles can be passed around for years without a dime invested in promotion. There are a lot of places that will publish them Free!

Four Power System Problems Common in Colocation Facilities

The primary factor that determines uptime for servers in a colocation facility is power. Power outages will knock a network offline and even damage hardware such as motherboards, memory, and hard drives. Despite how intrinsic power is to keeping businesses connected to their networks, only 2% to 3% of colocation facilities have the right power systems in place. The other 97% of facilities most commonly lack redundancy, multiple units carry the energy load even if one unit fails, or have units that are running above capacity, so a unit failure will cause the other units to overload and fail. Every part of the power system – uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), transfer switches or circuit breakers, generators, and power distribution units (PDU) – should be redundant and running below capacity.

Problem 1: Non-redundant Power Grids
Multiple PDUs connected to separate power grids and multiple UPSs should be designed into the colocation facility to offset a power grid failure. Colocation facilities with redundant power grids can connect customer servers to different grids at the same time, so that even if one goes offline, the other will work, keeping the network running without interruption.

Problem 2: Non-redundant UPSs
The UPSs supply power during an outage until the generator can come online; if the UPSs do not turn on immediately at the time of failure, then the network will go down. Even with high quality UPSs, failures are common, so it is critical for there to be multiple redundant UPS units in an “n+1” configuration – all of the necessary UPSs, plus an extra. Functionally, this means that each UPS runs sufficiently below capacity to handle a unit failure without the other units overloading. If there are two UPSs, then each unit must run below 50%, so that if one fails, the other can continue without overloading. If there are three units, each must run below 66%; four units, below 75%. The current load is shown on the display on the front of the UPS.

Problem 3: Transfer Switch Failures
Most colocation facilities use mechanical transfer switches, which are not as dependable as circuit breakers, to switch power from the electric utility to the generator. These switches are one of the most common places the power system fails. Without redundant switches to transfer power at the same point, a transfer switch failure will mean that a network goes down.

Problem 4: Insufficient Generator Capacity
Generators supply power during an outage. To run without overloading, the generator must have capacity to run 1.5 times the total building load. Ideally, a colocation facility should have a redundant backup generator in case the primary generator fails, and the facility should have a process in place for switching power between generators. Having multiple generators is not the same as having redundant generators. One of the most common generator problems with colocation facilities is that the facility started out with a small generator and added generators as it grew. This creates multiple points where power has to be transferred during an outage, increasing the likelihood that a network will go down. As a practical consideration, the generators must be well-maintained, tested monthly, and fully supplied with fuel.

Points to Consider
Fewer than one in twenty colocation facilities have the best power systems in place despite the fact that power systems have the most impact on network uptime. Without well-maintained and redundant components running below capacity at every part of the system, network performance as well as server performance and equipment lifetime will suffer. To make sure that the power system at a colocation facility is robust enough to handle power and equipment failures, two words should be remembered: capacity and redundancy.

Effective Public Speaking Tips For Beginners

People have praised and respected over the centuries those who could speak well in front of a crowd. The audience is oftentimes left in awe at how these leaders express themselves well and eventually convinced them a great deal. Knowing how to speak well before a crowd is the best drawer of attention to a candidate leader.

Facing a crowd can be a serious jittery experience for some but for others, they found it fun and exciting to express themselves. But being a public speaker you ought to prepare your speech. You owe this to your audience.

Preparing yourself for a talk is not that easy. You always have to put your best foot forward. The best way to get your audience attention is to start your speech with conviction and end it with a thought provoking ending hoping to lead to positive action.

Some helpful tips are listed below to guide you in your speech.
Content

• A good speech summary is very important to wrap up your talk and get the message across effectively. Focus on the purpose of your speech: is it to persuade, inform or entertain?

• The body of your speech should be driven to one focal point meaning a message.

• Know the objectives of the event where you are invited to talk. Your speech should be tailored to your kind of audience.

• Be sure that your talk is meaty with facts, if necessary figures, but which you can explain easily during your talk and make it in layman’s terms. Facts should be accurate, objective and should be from credible resources.

• Have nice, catchy titles to draw more attention to your speech.

Acceptable Physical Appearance during Public Speaking

• Gestures, movements, facial and bodily expressions are very important because they reveal so much about you as a speaker and a person on how well-versed you are on the topic.

• Public speakers should exude pleasantness, enthusiasm and confidence.

• Do not read from your notes, instead maintain eye contact with your audience. Remember, you should speak and not read.

• Dress for the occasion.

Your Speech

• If you are to give a speech, train and prepare yourself to speak slowly, enunciate words clearly, pause and show the right emotions while sharing your topic. Most of all, talk to all members of the audience as a whole.

• Communicate with your audience – speak, listen, respond, adjust and adapt – if they have questions or reactions.

• Add-ons to speeches include: humor, handouts and audio-visual aids.

How to Make Money While Traveling

What You Will Learn

You need money to travel and you need money while traveling. Savings are just part of the solution. You can also earn money while traveling. You need to have a legal method of making money while still working within the confines of traveling. Plan ahead and you will not only make money but meet many more people.

Savings Are Not Enough

Today, traveling the world is a wonderful experience and accessible to just about anyone, all it takes is a little money. The way most people go about funding their adventures is by saving up an allocated amount before hand. While this is necessary for most it's really only the first half of a well thought out traveling plan. Remember, anything can happen. So what if you are out and about in the world and your savings are lost or stolen? Or there's an emergency that you didn't budget for? Or, you simply want to stay on longer? By relying simply on your savings you've tied your hands to do what you can do with that amount of money and can't cover anything unexpected.

Have A Marketable Skill

This is where you need the second part of a travel plan, a universal marketable skill. If you have a skill that you can charge for no matter where you are your potential is never blocked. Whether for an emergency or just for spontaneous fun you will be able to make money on your travels and not be limited to your savings.

The Problem With Being a Waiter or Waitress

Now, most people feel that if they were to need to make money they could just find a job as a waitress or something. First of all, since most people think this most people will take this course of action making it more competitive for you. Also, a language barrier won't always allow you to find a minimum wage type job, and working permits make it even harder. This is where you thrive when you have a developed skill set while everyone else is competing for the same jobs. Particularly a skill set that you can use as an independent self-employed person.

What Type Of Skill Set Do You Need? When looking for such a skill set you want to make sure of two things. One, that the skill is universal. Meaning, there is a need for it no matter where you go. Two, that it travels with you. Meaning, you don't rely on large machinery to accomplish something. Beyond this the skill can be just about anything. Foreign languages, as an example, can be a real asset. You can find temporary work as a translator or tutor. Keep in mind that you not only have to be fluent but also know the second language. So, if you know Spanish fluently but are traveling in France you very well may be expected to know French when working as a tutor or translator.

Skills That Cross Language Barriers.

Hair cutting is a great skill that travels well. Not only can you find a job in a salon, but you can also offer to cut the hair of fellow travelers for a cheaper rate. Makeup artistry is a creative way to earn extra money. There are always people traveling for conferences, banquets, parties, and weddings and will want to look their best.

How To Find Clients

Post on travel sites your skill, where you'll be, and how to contact you. Also, go to the high end hotels and travel spots where the people are more likely to be traveling for an event. Leave your name and contact information with the concierge and offer a finder's fee for any guest he/she sends your way. How To Find And Develop Your Skill Set These are just a couple examples of skills that you can take with you while traveling. Take a look into your own life and personality and see if you can charge for anything you know how to do, don't over look anything. If you feel that you don't have a skill like the ones above there are very easy affordable ways to gain such a skill. You may not ever need to use it on your travels, but it's great to know it's there. An easy and inexpensive way to learn a skill you can use anywhere is through DVD. Check my resource box and start preparing for your next trip.

Greenhouses - what do you grow in yours?

A garden is like a blank canvas, in which you can put almost anything you want. Whether it’s a place to sit, or things to eat, or just things to look at, you can put them in your garden – an outdoor space of your very own.

The most common thing to do with gardens is to fill them with plants, especially grass lawns, but also bushes and trees. It can be very rewarding to see what you planted only a few months ago starting to take root – and then, over the years, seeing it grow larger and thrive. While it takes care and attention, gardening is a hobby that many people feel they can get into.

Once you’re good enough to plant flowers and bushes and have them survive from season to season, you might even feel brave enough to start growing some of your own food. There are many crops you can grow even in a modestly-sized garden that will produce a lot of food and taste very good when you harvest them – root vegetables like potatoes and carrots work very well, as do berry bushes and apple trees. Food tastes much better when you know you’ve grown it yourself, and you save money too.

If you’re less green fingered than that, you can put other things in your garden apart from plants. It’s not difficult to build a brick barbecue, for example, get some chairs and invite people round. You might like to build a patio or decking where you can sit away from the garden itself but still outdoors. Various kinds of paths and rock features are also popular things to put in a garden, as are decorative ornaments like garden gnomes and model birds. If you’re a fan of fish and water life, you can even dig yourself a pond, and get various animals and plants to put in it.

Gregory Reyes Trial | Real Time Court Status

I first met Greg Reyes when I went to visit Brocade Communications in 1998. At the time, he had recently assumed the CEO position there and I worked for an investment banking company, Needham & Company. I no longer work for Needham arid cannot represent them in any capacity at this time.

Brocade had no CFO at the time. I can't remember if the CFO had left just prior to Greg joining or shortly thereafter. I do recall that Brocade was having a difficult time finding a replacement and that the prior CFO had not been suitable to represent the company during an IPO and as a public company. My understanding was that Greg had inherited the CFO problem and was doing his best to find a replacement. Silicon Valley was booming at the time and CFOs were a tough find.

At the initial meeting, in subsequent ones, and at dinners over the next year Greg and I discussed Brocade, their desire to go public, market conditions and the fibre channel industry. Greg also made comments from time to time about his family - all complimentaiy about how wonderful and closely knit they were. He specifically mentioned the sacrifices his wife had made, with small children, to nurture their family. It was very clear that Greg treasured his family and worried about the demands of his current position on his wife and two children.

I believe that two specific encounters are very relevant to Greg's current legal situation. Overall, I am shocked that of the many CEOs I knew during the relevant time period he is the one to be convicted in a criminal trial.

The first situation was when Greg and I initially discussed the possibility of Brocade going public. He said the company had started the process then stopped it after deciding that it wasn't ready. At that time, he made it clear to me that he felt an ethical obligation to stick with the original underwriting team since they had already put in a lot of work and had been loyal to Brocade.

Next, when Brocade did go public, Greg invited our firm to be part of the underwriting syndicate (the underwriters typically consist of three or so investment banks who do most of the work. Greg kept this original team. The syndicate is a much broader group, and only sells stock. In most IPOs this latter list is quite long to ensure wide distribution of shares. We were part of this second group). The lead banker, Morgan Stanley, tried to exclude us from the syndicate at the last minute. I called Greg to discuss this problem. At that time he asked me what his legal and ethical options were. He made it very clear that he would maintain his commitment to us - he felt ethically bound to do so since he had committed to include us - only if doing so was legally correct.

When I recently read in a newspaper that Greg had sent an email in which he said that backdating was illegal I was shocked to read that the email was being interpreted such that he knew illegal things were occurring at Brocade. Based on my experience with Greg 1 read the comment to mean that he was reiterating what was legal to ensure that email recipient complied with the law. As stated above, Greg made it clear to me that both ethical and legal factors were very important to him and must be maintained. He was exceptional as a CEO in his emphasis on the value he placed on legality, ethics and loyalty.

Therefore, based on my experiences with Grog during the period at issue in his trial and sentencing I would respectfully urge the judge to consider leniency. Greg was always gracious, courteous and respectful in every situation in which 1 observed him. Greg worked incredible hours and entered a company with either no CFO or an inappropriate one. One person can only do so much and I would hate to see other executives shy away from companies with similar difficulties due to their own future possible liabilities.

The Pros and Cons of Hearing Aids

Disposable hearing aids are designed for people with mild to moderate hearing loss. They are currently being marketed to aging baby boomers suffering from hearing loss.

Disposable hearing aids appeal to people who are not sure if they want to commit to wearing hearing aids and to those who are reluctant to invest in conventional hearing aids. Disposable hearing aids usually cost between $40 and $50 each, whereas conventional hearing aids can cost up to $900 for a pair. Digital hearing aids are the most expensive, costing up to $5,000 for the latest pair. Since conventional hearing aids can last for about five years, they can work out to be cheaper than disposable hearing aids in the long run.

Unlike conventional hearing aids, they are not custom fitted. They come in a various settings or prescriptions, selected to match the user's level of hearing loss. A disposable hearing aid's batteries cannot be replaced. They are designed to be thrown away after the batteries expire, which usually last for just over a month.

A disposable hearing aid can be made available immediately after a hearing test. There is no need to wait for it to be manufactured like a conventional hearing aid. There is also no cost associated with repairs or replacing batteries. If a disposable hearing aid breaks down, you just throw it away and get a new one. Should you lose your disposable hearing aid, the cost of a replacing it is far less than that of a conventional hearing aid.

While disposable hearing aids are sometimes described as one size fits all, they actually fit about 80% of adult male ears and about 60% of adult female ears. Most disposable aids are of the in the ear (ITE) type. Instead of being molded to the ear, they make use of a soft cap that provides an acoustic seal about halfway down the ear canal.

Disposable hearing aids have a short life span. They cannot be custom fitted and hence, some people find them uncomfortable to wear. Disposable hearing aids are not as flexible as modern digital hearing aids as they come in standard prescriptions. Perhaps the biggest concern of audiologists is that most disposable hearing aid users do not have their hearing checked on a regular basis, leading to potential uncorrected problems.

If you have a hearing problem, it is vital to see an audiologist or an ear, nose and throat (ENT) doctor who will determine your level of hearing loss and suitability to wearing a hearing aid. Although hearing loss is caused by noise or aging, it is important for a professional to rule out any underlying problem that requires medical treatment.

NDS Roms

As a Nintendo DS console owner, you know the game library is too much for the average wallet. While game reviews and video footage appease the decision process in order to bring you the best entertainment, nothing quite beats playing the game yourself. Unfortunately DS game demos are nonexistent; your only solution is to download NDS roms. Roms are technically any kind of Read-Only file, but in this context it refers to a game. NDS roms are therefore Nintendo DS games ripped from their cartridges and put up on NDS download roms websites, and Peer to Peer (torrent) websites.

P2P (Peer to Peer) websites are set up so that your NDS roms downloads aren't from the website itself, but rather from its users. Torrents are the common file types for P2P websites as they are optimized for the multiple-user download system, pause and restart easily at any time, and let you upload bits of the data to other users. However there are occasions where you may aid in uploading viruses and other malware - in addition to getting them yourself. Additionally, the torrents themselves could have been tampered with to contain devious objects that will attack your computer or even steal files and important information from cache.

There are of course NDS roms download websites where you can download NDS roms that aren't torrents. Such websites are more reliable as they usually test all roms and cannot be easily interfered with by malicious users. Many sites provide downloads at no cost, but are they reliable? Free websites rely solely on donations, thus are restricted on budget. Fewer employees can be hired to verify roms for malware and reliability. Less powerful servers are purchased leading to common site outages for maintenance and bandwidth issues, causing the administrators to impose users with daily limit of NDS roms downloads or affecting the speed at which they download NDS roms. While the idea of paying a single membership fee on websites seems daunting, that fee goes to keep servers up for a faster and smoother download process than the free alternatives.

Ultimately your decisions to download illegally ripped NDS games, as well as which download method you support, are left up to you. With the safety of both your PC and DS in mind however, paid NDS roms download websites are recommended for the security and reliability they offer.

Psychic Readings A Guide To Help From A Higher Source

Psychic readings can be anything from a tarot reading to a rune casting to astrology. A psychic reading can also be done without any divination tools. Basically, a psychic reading is when the reader tells a person, called the querent, the answers to their questions. The psychic reader uses their intuition to give the querent details and information.

Choosing a psychic reader can be difficult. There are many people who fake having psychic abilities. They tell people what they want to hear or use other tactics to give the querent answers. One of the best ways to find a psychic reader is through referrals. When a person gets a referral from a friend or relative they can usually trust that the psychic is worth going to. For someone who does not know much about how psychic reading work it can be difficult to tell the fake ones from the real ones.

A big aspect of finding a good psychic reader is that the reader and the querent need to be able to establish a good connection. The psychic connection between the querent and the reader allows the reader to open up and receive messages to give the querent. Usually a reader will know right away if they can or can not connect. If a person gets a reader that says they cannot read for them, then this is usually the case. They are not being rude, they just know they can not help you because they can not establish the connection. As a querent, the best way to tell if there is a connection is based upon the gut feeling. A querent should feel comfortable and at ease with the reader. Any hesitation or uneasiness will throw off the reading.

Once a person finds a reader they need to be able to clear their mind and focus on the situation at hand. They should have a good idea of what they want to know before starting their reading. They should be clear about their feelings in a given situation. It helps because the reader can then connect to these thoughts and feelings in order to get the answers. Many times a reader will want to hold hands or have everyone close their eyes, this is mainly to help the querent stay focused. Sometimes the reader will try to set a calm and mellow mood by using candle light and burning incense.

During the reading the reader may use tools like tarot cards, runes or even a crystal ball. These tools are just an aid for the reader and can also be helpful to the querent. A querent who is even slightly skeptical can then se by the tools that the reader is not just saying things out of thin air. The tools serve as a guide and can help clarify messages the reader may be getting.

A psychic reader can help a querent, but they can not tell them with 100% certainty that something will or will not happen. No psychic reading is positive. The future is not written in stone and as such, nobody can tell anyone else their exact future. Psychic readers can tell a person what may happen based upon their current situation. Any changes in the querent situation and their future may be altered.

A psychic reader is like a guide to the psychic realm. Some people are more prone or find it easier to communicate with those who have passed over, angels or higher beings. These people, psychic readers, work to help others try to make the most of their lives and try to help them get clarity when needed in tough situations.
